Alice Cooper clarifies wife death pact comments, says they have a ‘life pact’

Alice Cooper clarified his comments that he and wife Sheryl Goddard have a “death pact.”

“We have a LIFE pact. We love life so much,” the 71-year-old rocker told USA Today in a statement Monday.

The “School’s Out” crooner made headlines over the weekend when he revealed to the UK’s Mirror that he and Goddard vowed to die together because there’s “no way of surviving without each other.”

“What I was meaning was that because we’re almost always together, at home and on the road, that if something did happen to either of us, we’d most likely be together at the time,” Cooper added in his new statement to USA Today. “But neither of us has a suicide pact. We have a life pact.”

Goddard, 61, and Cooper married in 1976 and have three children: Calico, 38, Dashiell, 34, and Sonora, 27.

The couple appears to be trying to make light of their news-making comments, joking, “Besides, I’m booked through 2028, so…”
