Granger Smith’s wife Amber posts emotional message after son’s death

Granger Smith and his family are keeping the memory of their 3-year-old son, River, very much alive.

On Sunday, Amber Smith, the wife of the country singer, penned an emotional message on Instagram, less than a month after the couple’s young son died by drowning.

“We just happened to be in the same city as the ‘biiiigggggggest T-Rex’ ever found. We had to make a trip to see it in honor of River,” Amber posted following a trip to a Chicago museum.

“This dinosaur was discovered in FAITH, South Dakota by a woman named Sue. And he died by a River. Open your eyes and you will see signs all around you. We think just maybe, Riv is having the best time of his life in Heaven with this,” she continued. “Getting back on the road and back into daily life without River has not been easy in the slightest. Every single thing reminds me of him, and all I can think about is how he would love exploring and seeing all that we are seeing.”

Last week, Granger, 39, and Amber, 37, shed light on the events leading up to the death of the boy, who drowned in the family’s pool. They are leaning on their faith through this trying time.

While Amber still sees bits of River throughout her daily life, writing, “I see his name everywhere, I see little red-headed toddlers everywhere,” she has struggled to make life as “normal as possible” for their other children: daughter London, 7, and son Lincoln, 5.

Granger was scheduled to perform at the Country LakeShake music festival in Chicago over the weekend, his first show since losing his son, according to People.
