Busy Philipps takes a birthday dip in $1,600 dress

Busy Philipps made a splash at her birthday party.

The “I Feel Pretty” actress celebrated turning 40 with a “destination wedding to herself” in Cabo, Mexico, complete with an over-the-top party, customized maracas for guests and an expensive white dress.

At the end of the night, Philipps took a dive into the pool while wearing the lacy Zimmermann gown, which retails for $1,600, just because she always wanted to.

She accessorized the beachy look with a gold and turquoise necklace and matching earrings by jewelry designer and friend Irene Neuwrith, who was present at the celebration, and tied her hair up into Frida Kahlo-inspired braids.

I'd always wanted to do this.

In multiple lengthy Instagram posts, Philipps explained why she decided to throw herself an extravagant birthday party. “So I was thinking about turning 40. And it’s weird because my perpetual age is 19-sometimes 27 depending but now I’m 40(my birthday is the 25th actually) HOW AM I 40 YEARS OLD?” she wrote.

The star’s swimming-pool snap was appropriately set to the song “Water” by Ra Ra Riot, and Philipps even got a shoutout from the band themselves: “Nailed it ❤️,” they commented.
