Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler was hospitalized in Los Angeles Thursday after a possible suicide attempt, a Los Angeles Police Department source told Page Six.
He suffered non-life threatening injuries. According to TMZ, Adler, 54, stabbed himself in the stomach.
“Officers responded to Adler’s Studio City, California home at around 6:30 p.m. PT on a call of a possible suicide attempt,” Officer Mike Lopez told us. “When they arrived, officers determined that no crime had been committed and deemed the incident a medical emergency only.”
Lopez would not comment on whether anyone else was in the home when cops arrived. He said the Los Angeles Fire Department transported Adler to a nearby hospital.
A rep for Adler could not immediately be reached for comment.
Earlier on Thursday, Adler’s Instagram account promoted a gig he has coming up at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas on July 12.
In the comments for the post, fans sent their well wishes to the rocker, with one saying, “We’re with you Steven! Never forget how much you’re loved, hope you get better soon!” Another wrote, “Get well soon! Love and Peace to you.”
Adler joined Guns N’ Roses alongside frontman Axl Rose in 1982. He was reportedly fired in 1990 due to his heroin and cocaine addiction, according to Rolling Stone, and sued the band for axing him over drug use when they allegedly introduced him to the hard stuff.
He appeared on the second and fifth seasons of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew” in 2008 and 2011, and the first season of the VH1 show’s spinoff, “Sober House,” in 2009.
According to the rock news site Blabbermouth, Adler celebrated four years of sobriety in 2018, noting that he hadn’t had a drink since 2014 or drugs since 2008.
“After, like, the ninth month of not drinking, my whole life did a 180 [degree turn],” he said. “Everything changed. I became happy again. I love life again. I enjoy the sunsets. I enjoy the sunrise. It’s beautiful.”
