Bobby Berk deletes tweets defending Karamo Brown, slams ‘DWTS’

Bobby Berk has taken down a series of tweets defending his “Queer Eye” co-star Karamo Brown, who was slammed on social media for calling his upcoming “Dancing with the Stars” competitor Sean Spicer a “sweet guy.”

In a slew of tweets on Thursday, Berk, the “Queer Eye” design expert, wrote, “As if being on @DancingABC with the stars wasn’t already one of the must grueling things anyone can put themselves through, celebs now have to deal with producers & casting planting political land mines to blow you up. I’m very saddened by what my cast mate @Karamo is having to deal with today.”

He went on to explain that the cast of the Netflix show has been trained “over and over to not talk smack about anyone in an interviews and to try to be as nice as possible.” He said that Brown’s media training took hold when he was “backed in a corner about voicing his opinions about @seanspicer.”

It was announced on Wednesday that the “Queer Eye” culture expert and the former White House press secretary under President Trump were among those cast in the upcoming season of ABC’s long-running dance show.

During an interview with “Access,” Brown, 38, said he’d been chatting with Spicer, 47, all day, adding, “He’s a really good guy, really sweet guy.”

“People would look at us and think that we’re polar opposites,” Brown said. “But I’m a big believer that if you can talk to someone and meet in the middle, you can learn about each other and help each other both grow.”

The comments sparked instant backlash on social media, causing Brown to deactivate his Twitter account and Berk, 37, to respond. Berk also went after ABC for casting Spicer in the first place.

“@ABCnetwork should be ashamed of themselves for having put the cast in the position of having to take a political side on a f–king dance competition,” he wrote in more tweets that have been deleted. “Everything around us is constantly too political as it is. Shame on you ABC for now making this beloved show political by casting one of the biggest liars who has ever been. It’s called “Dancing with the STARS” and the fact that you’re calling him a star is disgusting.”

It’s not clear why he deleted his comments, and reps did not return our request for comment.
