Tracee Ellis Ross launches curly hair care brand Pattern

Tracee Ellis Ross is the latest celebrity to enter the beauty market.

The “Black-ish” actress, 46, announced on Tuesday that she’s launching a hair care line called Pattern meant “specifically for curly, coily and tight textured hair.”

Ross posed nude on Instagram to share the news, explaining that Pattern “is the result of 20 years of dreaming, 10 years in the making (I wrote my first brand pitch in 2008) and 2 years of working with chemists” and revealing that she “tried 74 different samples” before landing on the seven formulas included in “phase one.”

“Many of us can chronicle the journey of our self-acceptance through the journey of our hair. I think, in all honesty, the timing is perfect,” Ross told Allure of her new line.

In addition to selecting ingredients ideal for curly, coily and tight-textured hair (types 3b to 4c), Ross is packaging them in bottles of various sizes to better accommodate “those of us who need more than a quarter size of product.”

According to Allure, prices for Pattern’s products will range from $9 for a three-ounce bottle to $42 for the largest 29-ounce container. In addition to a shampoo and three different kinds of conditioner (Medium, Heavy and Intense), two hair oil serums ($25), a brush ($17), a clip ($10) and a microfiber towel ($19) will also be available.

Pattern will launch online on Monday, Sept. 9 at 9 a.m. EST.
