Aaron Carter ‘doesn’t have the time’ for family drama while making new music

Aaron Carter is too busy making music to focus on his famous family.

Although the singer, 31, recently attacked his Backstreet Boys brother Nick on social media, he later told Page Six that he is putting his family drama behind him to channel his energy into creativity.

“Right now I don’t have the time for anybody else in my family except for my mother,” said Carter, who released his newest single, “Pyro,” last week. “That’s just where I want to keep it. I love my brother. I love my family. But right now I have to put myself first and I have to keep myself clean and sober and I can’t have any triggers in my life. And I have to maintain a positive attitude and be who I am.”

“I want to be known for my music and not from the drama,” he continued. “I want to be remembered for my current music, not my past.”

He and Nick have fought publicly in the past.

Carter is working in the studio and is planning to release an EP in the spring. In the meantime, he is hand-making a custom line of merchandise ranging from $100 to $300 to promote his 2018 album, “LØVË.”

“Well, funny enough my mom … she made all her children’s clothing because people didn’t realize that we grew up very poor,” Carter said. “So my mom used to sit there and have a sewing machine and she would sew all my clothes and I think it’s just something that runs in my blood. One day I was like, ‘You know what? I wanna be creative and use my creative outlet and things that I learned in rehab and in treatment in how to keep yourself busy and happy and positive and live your life.'”
