Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick to star on Broadway together

Actor spouses Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are taking the Broadway stage together next year.

The “Sex and the City” star, 54, took to Instagram on Tuesday announcing that she and her husband, 57, are set to star opposite each other in a revival of Neil Simon’s “Plaza Suite.”

In her post, Parker mused that the show is “about love, marriage, children and all the absurdity and heartbreak that can happen in room 719.”

The 1968 comedy is being directed by the couple’s pal John Benjamin Hickey. The play consists of three one-acts, and Parker and Broderick play a different couple in each, according to the New York Times.

Both stars, whose careers have spanned from stage to screen, have only worked together on stage once, in 1996, when she joined the cast of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” for which Broderick won a Tony.

Parker wrote of working with her husband, “I feel I’ve waited a lifetime.”

“The fact that we’re married is an interesting aside, but really I’m more concerned about doing a good job, and I can’t think of anybody better for the part than my wife,” Broderick told the New York Times on Tuesday.

“Plaza Suite” will do a pre-run at the Emerson Colonial Theatre in Boston — where the show debuted years ago — in February before heading to Times Square’s Hudson Theater starting on March 13.
