Upon arrival, Middleton stepped off the plane in a custom blue ombré dress with a draped neckline and matching pants by Catherine Walker, one of her favorite British designers. The look is an ode to the traditional shalwar kameez, which combines a loose-fitting tunic top with pants underneath; Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana, wore a similar style in the same color when she visited the area in 1991.

Arriving in a rickshaw for a special reception at the iconic Pakistan Monument in the capital city of Islamabad, Middleton glittered in an emerald sequin column gown by Jenny Packham and earrings by Onitaa, sourced from Pakistan. William matched his wife, wearing a traditional green sherwani by Pakistani designer Naushemian in the symbolic color.
