Kim Kardashian’s custom Thierry Mugler look for the 2019 Met Gala once featured some rather perky accessories.
“The dress initially — since I was wet, coming out of the water — there were nipples attached to it,” the beauty mogul, 39, revealed during an interview on “The Real” on Tuesday.
The waist-cinching ensemble caused plenty of tension between Kardashian and husband Kanye West before the big night. On a recent episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” the 42-year-old rapper argued that the reality star’s look was too revealing for the red carpet, saying, “You are my wife, and it affects me when pictures are too sexy.”
According to the shapewear guru, West considered the nipple accents to be especially problematic.
“He was really certain that he didn’t want that on the dress, and had mentioned it multiple times” she said. “He is my husband, so I obviously want to honor him and what he’s feeling.”
In the end, Kardashian agreed to a compromise, ditching the nipples but keeping the rest of the designer outfit — which was inspired by screen icon Sophia Loren — intact.
After all, as she said: “At the end of the day, I’m always gonna be me.”
