Duane “Dog the Bounty Hunter” Chapman was so heartbroken after the loss of his wife, Beth Chapman, he considered taking his own life.
“I just hope that I don’t live very much longer without her, because now she made the first step, she’s through the gate,” Duane, 66, said on the season finale of “Dog’s Most Wanted” Wednesday night, according to People. “She paved a way for me. I want to take a goddamn pain pill so bad.”
He continued, “I feel like if I did something to myself right now and passed away suicidal and I got to heaven and was like, ‘Hi honey,’ and would she go, ‘You d—k a—s, why would you do that?’ Or would she go, ‘Wow, you’re here.’ I’ll be like ‘Of course I’m here. You left me. I’m here.’ So, am I obligated to do that?”
The reality star admitted he tries not to be left alone for too long because he said, “That’s when I start thinking about things.”
“I lay down to take a nap, and I reached over to touch something, and it was the freaking dog,” he said on the WGN show. “I don’t realize yet psychologically that she’s gone gone and I’ll never, ever see her. I don’t realize that.”
Beth died in June at age 51 after losing her battle to throat cancer.
Three months later, Duane was hospitalized with chest pains, which he attributes to a “broken heart.”
“I’m going through some psychological things, too, so that doesn’t help,” he said. “I think basically I had a broken heart … it’s going to heal.”
When Duane visited Page Six over the summer, he told us his grief also affected his appetite.
“Feelings are really strange,” he said in August. “I don’t want to eat something until I’m really hungry because I want to feel something.”
