Norah O’Donnell notches ratings high with DC debut for ‘CBS Evening News’

New “CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell got off to a rough start in the ratings when she took the chair in July.

But we’re told that Monday night’s show — the first broadcast from its new home in Washington, DC — made viewers take notice. According to Nielsen, the first episode since the move from New York won O’Donnell her biggest ratings yet in both total viewers and the all-important 25-54 age group.

Meanwhile, we’re told her numbers are ticking up in general — from 5.6 million total viewers at the beginning of the season to 6 million Monday, and up from 906,000 viewers in the 25-54 group to 1.2 million in the same period.
