It’s over for “Bachelor in Paradise” stars Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton.
On Tuesday, the couple — who got engaged on the ABC reality series earlier this year — announced their breakup on Instagram, posting joint statements to their respective accounts.
“One of the many lessons this life has taught us is that it’s okay to be stubborn in the pursuit of happiness. To fight for what is real and good, and that often times the hardest thing and the right thing are the same,” the statement read.
“We’ve reached a point in our story where we agree it’s best to go our separate ways. We have chosen to love and respect each other as friends because that’s the base of our relationship, and it’s what is most natural for us. We are incredibly thankful for the support we’ve received from our family, friends and everyone who supported us throughout our journey – from paradise to this moment,” they continued.
Bukowski, 32, proposed to Morton, 27, in Mexico on the Season 6 finale of “Bachelor in Paradise.” Morton later addressed the status of her relationship with Bukowski during an in-studio taping, which aired in September, as she appeared without her engagement ring.
“We’re still engaged,” Morton said, according to People. “I just put in so much effort every day and I love him so much, but I put in so much that my tank empties and if I’m not getting it filled, I break down. It’s just the whole time at the beach he would tell others that he loves me and the only way I knew Chris loves me is the way he tells everyone else, not the way he shows me. I love him, but I can’t speak as to how he makes me feel and the things he said and the things he did seemed so different.”
Bukowski and Morton weren’t the only pair that parted ways after “Bachelor in Paradise” wrapped this summer. “Bachelor” alum Demi Burnett and girlfriend Kristian Haggerty also called it quits in October.
