Harvey Weinstein charged with sex crimes in Los Angeles

Harvey Weinstein has been slapped with sex crime charges in Los Angeles, The Post has learned.

The disgraced movie mogul was charged with one felony count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by use of force and sexual battery by restraint, stemming from two separate incidents over two days in 2013, LA County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced.

The rape charge stems from allegations by an Italian model who says Weinstein pushed his way into her room Mr. C Beverly Hills hotel on Feb. 18, 2013 and assaulted her.

The next evening, Weinstein allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at a hotel suite in Beverly Hills.

That accuser is testifying in the fallen producer’s rape and sex abuse trial in New York to establish an alleged pattern of behavior.

If convicted of the LA charges, Weinstein would face up to 28 years in prison.

An arraignment will be scheduled at a later date, with prosecutors recommending bail be set at $5 million.

“We believe the evidence will show that the defendant used his power and influence to gain access to his victims and then commit violent crimes against them,” Lacey said.

Prosecutors in California last month announced they were reviewing eight cases of alleged sexual misconduct against Weinstein, including the claim by the unnamed model.

At a press conference announcing the charges, Lacey said her office had found that three of the cases fell outside the statute of limitations.

Investigators are still looking into three other cases, she said.

The blockbuster move comes just one day before jury selection is set to start in Weinstein’s highly anticipated trial in New York.

Lacey said she expects Weinstein to appear in LA court following his trial in New York.

Weinstein has categorically denied having non-consensual sex.
