Demi Lovato’s ‘I Love Me’ music video references OD, Wilmer Valderrama

Demi Lovato‘s music video for “I Love Me” makes it clear she’s ready to move on from her tumultuous past.

The 27-year-old pop star’s new song, which was released on Friday, addresses her struggles with addiction and low self-esteem as she continues to work on her relationship with herself. In the video, Lovato references many of her darkest moments, including her near-fatal 2018 drug overdose.

While the Grammy-nominated songstress walks down the street in the video, she passes an ambulance and a woman being loaded onto a stretcher. As Lovato approaches the scene, she reaches her hand out to the patient, who could be interpreted as Lovato when she was transported to the hospital in July 2018.

In another scene, Lovato looks longingly at a bride and groom as they cross the street, which many believe is an Easter egg referring to her long-term relationship with now-ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, who is engaged to Amanda Pacheco.

Valderamma and Lovato had an on-again, off-again relationship for six years before officially calling it quits in 2016. The “That ’70s Show” star supported her through her overdose recovery, visiting her at the hospital and helping her after she got out of rehab.
