Braunwyn Windham-Burke opens up about skin cancer scare

This “Real Housewife” of Orange County is getting real about her skin cancer.

Braunwyn Windham-Burke shared her substantial history with the disease via Instagram Wednesday — spurred by a recent visit to her dermatologist — as a PSA for fans, reminding them of the importance of regular screenings.

“I was diagnosed with my first malignant melanoma stage 2 at age 19,” she shared. “I was very young and we had to go through radiation. I had to get it cut. I have a huge scar.

“My cousin died from melanoma when he was 36,”  Windham-Burke, 42, added later. “Go every four months if you’re like me.”

“When I was younger, I didn’t get biopsies every time,” she had explained earlier, “But now I do.”

Stage 2 melanoma is considered an intermediate to high risk for recurrence or redevelopment, per the Melanoma Research Alliance.

The Bravo star noted that she had biopsies performed during her most recent visit to determine if two moles were cancerous. She has a basal cell on her neck, so she will be using a chemotherapy cream to shrink it before her doctor lasers it off. She previously had to get cancerous cells removed on her face and legs, and had a scare in February where a mole on her arm came back positive for melanoma, which she said they caught in time.

“Get checked. Get checked often,” she finished her update this week.

Windham-Burke’s health could possibly come up in Season 15 of “RHOC,” which is currently filming.
