Sterling K. Brown shines a light on Emmys 2020’s cardboard cutouts

Sterling K. Brown made friends at Emmys 2020 that will last a lifetime, given they’re artificial.

The 44-year-old “This Is Us” star tweeted a photo of himself standing among the various cardboard cutouts keeping host Jimmy Kimmel company at this year’s virtual award show. He appeared in person to present the Emmy award for Oustanding Drama Series.

Behind him sat Meryl Streep; Catherine O’Hara, who won for her work on “Schitt’s Creek” earlier this evening; Mahershala Ali; Billy Porter; Kerry Washington; Issa Rae and more.

“Just hanging out with a few of my friends… #Emmys,” he wrote.

At the start of the show, Kimmel pranked viewers by showing old footage from past award shows to make it seem as if Hollywood had gathered—without masks—to celebrate television’s biggest night.

In reality, nominees are gathering over Zoom to win or lose in their categories.
