‘Cake Boss’ star Buddy Valastro tries to ice cake with left hand after injury

Buddy Valastro is taking his recovery a day at a time.

On Saturday, the “Cake Boss” star, 43, shared a handful of images as he decorated cakes with his family using his left hand, having mangled his dominant hand last month in an accident at his home bowling alley.

“Family time is the BEST time! Doing it all over again, left handed..,” Valastro captioned the post on Instagram, adding the hashtags “recovery” and “lefty.”

In September, Valastro posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed, telling his 3.9 million Instagram followers he had been “involved in a terrible accident.” It was later revealed that his hand got caught in a pin-setting machine, resulting in a “freak accident.”

“The machine was stuck — and it’s not uncommon — I went behind to go fix the machine, and I jumped up on top of it, like I normally do, and before you know it, I turn my head for a second, and my right hand got wedged between a fork,” Valastro detailed Monday on the “Today” show.

“Then this other rod, that goes through the fork, just pierced through my middle and my ring finger,” he continued. “It just blew out half my hand.”

Valastro’s teenage son, Buddy Jr., also reflected on the harrowing ordeal.

“It was scary,” Buddy Jr. said on “Today.” “I knew I had to do something.”

Valastro, who called his recovery an “uphill battle,” added he’s “so proud” of his son.

“I just can’t imagine that they had to go through this and they did what they did,” Valastro said of his family.
