A former Tekashi 6ix9ine pal who was caught partying at his apartment while he was on release from jail because of the coronavirus pandemic was ordered back into lockup by a federal judge Monday.
Manhattan federal Judge Paul Engelmayer ordered Kintea McKenzie, aka “Kooda B,” to surrender to US Marshals at the courthouse no later than 2 p.m. Oct. 15 at Monday’s hearing.
McKenzie — who pleaded guilty to setting up the attempted shooting of rapper and gang rival Chief Keef in Times Square in 2018 — was caught on video partying with a group of people at his Brooklyn apartment soon after he was cut loose from the Metropolitan Correctional Center amid the coronavirus outbreak in April. That was in spite of social-distancing orders.
On Monday, Engelmayer called the partying an “astonishing stunt” that showed McKenzie expose himself to conditions that were far riskier than anything he would come up against in a federal lockup.
After he was made aware of the video in April, Engelmayer wrote that McKenzie could face additional prison time because of the stunt when he is sentenced next month.
McKenzie was scheduled to be sentenced next week and remanded into custody, but that was postponed until November at Monday’s hearing because of his lawyer’s risk of contracting the coronavirus at an in-person court hearing.
