Gwen Stefani goes back to her ‘90s pink hair

Gwen Stefani is revisiting her roots.

The 51-year-old No Doubt frontwoman — who famously rocked a full head of hot pink hair back in the late ’90s and early 2000s — debuted new streaks in the exact same shade while posing for an eyewear shoot in Calabasas, Calif., on Wednesday, presumably for her own GX by Gwen Stefani brand.

In addition to the slick of electric pink in her platinum locks, Stefani also modeled an outfit that reflected her punk-pop roots: an R13 fringed cargo jacket ($1,056) and shredded leopard-print shorts ($507), along with a variety of specs and a pair of $5,040 embellished cowboy boots by Philipp Plein.

Last year, the “Hollaback Girl” hitmaker opened up to Vogue about her iconic pink ‘do. “So, what happened with the pink hair?” she said. “It’s so true: If you go through a breakup or a really big change in your life, sometimes you go ahead and change your hair to try to, I don’t know, wash whatever feelings those are out of your hair.”

Continued Stefani, “I was really confused at this time. I was 29 years old. I was really confused about my relationship. I didn’t know who I was. I had come off a long long tour. I had gotten famous. I got to buy a house. I got to move out of my parent’s house. So much had happened.”

So the star reached for the Manic Panic. “I didn’t have any budgets. I didn’t have a stylist … I wanted my hair like cotton candy light hair. I had this vision of what I wanted and I ended up with fuchsia pink hair for like a year,” she recalled.
