Sinéad O’Connor appeared to issue a heartbreaking plea on Twitter that she was “starving.”
A Twitter account claiming to be the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer wrote on Wednesday that O’Connor’s agoraphobia has prevented her from going out to buy food.
“I’ve been secretly living with a physically paralysing, trauma related case of acute low self esteem for the last few years and months and weeks and am lately not eating because it’s made me so agoraphobic I can’t go to the shops. And I’m starving,” read one tweet from the account, which is under O’Connor’s Islamic name, Shuhanda Sadaqat.
The account said the Irish singer lives in a “very remote part of the country so take outs, and or grocery deliveries are not an option,” and asked followers if there is a meal delivery service for “people with mental health conditions whose ability to self care has been diminished.”
By the next afternoon, the account tweeted that the 53-year-old had found a meal delivery service and was “replete and happy.”
In 2017, O’Connor revealed on “Dr. Phl” that she had tried to kill herself eight times in one year and claimed that her mother beat her daily and ran a “torture chamber.”
That year she also shared a disturbing Facebook post in which she said through tears that she was reduced to living in a New Jersey motel and, “for two years, my entire life has revolved around just not dying, and that’s not just living.”
Last month, the “Troy” singer tweeted that she was training to become a medical professional but would still be singing.
At least it seems the Grammy winner has a sense of humor, as the account tweeted Thursday: “Has to be said, these new restrictions are an agoraphobic’s dream.”
