‘Bachelorette’ Clare Crawley fires back at claims she lied about not attending prom

The drama from Clare Crawley’s season of “The Bachelorette” is playing out off-screen, too.

On Wednesday, the reality star, 39, fired back at allegations that she lied about never attending prom in high school, which had originally been brought up during Tuesday’s episode of “The Bachelorette.”

“I didn’t have the greatest high school experience either, to be honest,” Crawley said to contestant Chasen Nick, as they discussed past experiences.

“I never went to prom,” she continued. “Nobody ever asked me. Nobody even knew who I was in high school. I was just invisible, I think. I felt invisible.”

Following the on-screen exchange, photos emerged on social media of a teenaged Crawley attending a high school dance.

“My husband took @clarecrawley to senior prom, @clarecrawley you went to prom #bachelorette #clarecrawley #senior ball #1999 #hothusband,” an Instagram user posted to the platform, via Comments by Celebs.

“Note: she went to all girls school he went to a all boys school call it what you want, Senior Ball or Senior Prom, it took place in the spring,” the comment read.

When a separate Instagram user commented, “@clarecrawley you’ve been exposed,” Crawley responded, “Lol actually not.”

“You do know there is more dances in high school that are NOT Prom? Turns out it’s just someone digging up old photos. (why she keeps her husbands old dance pics I’m not sure) I went to a new school senior year and in fact DID NOT go to prom just like I said,” she continued.

Crawley’s “Bachelorette” journey has been off to a wild start. In last week’s premiere, the Sacramento-based hairstylist proclaimed, “I definitely feel like I just met my husband,” after encountering former NFL player Dale Moss.

Crawley is rumored to leave the show early after falling for one of her suitors, with “Bachelor” alum Tayshia Adams speculated to be her replacement.

“The Bachelorette” airs Tuesdays on ABC.
