Braunwyn Windham-Burke says her dad died from drinking

Braunwyn Windham-Burke had experience with alcoholism long before she sought treatment for her own addiction struggles.

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” the 42-year-old candidly said that her father died from drinking, making the revelation during a conversation with new “RHOC” cast member Elizabeth Lyn Vargas, who first revealed that her dad was an alcoholic.

“My dad died from drinking,” Windham-Burke disclosed.

In a confessional she elaborated: “I feel like I’m being punched in the gut. My dad had a heart attack because he drank. Every day.”

Windham-Burke said she was two weeks sober at the time of their conversation.

During the on-screen chat, Vargas also said her mom was her “rock” and had to deal with a lot in her life.

Windham-Burke revealed in the Season 15 premiere that she is an alcoholic, saying: “I don’t know if it’s divine intervention. I don’t know. But for the first time in my life, I can say, ‘My name is Braunwyn and I’m an alcoholic.’”

Windham-Burke opened up about her sobriety afterwards, telling Glamour that she quit drinking after celebrating her co-star Kelly Dodd’s now-husband Rick Leventhal’s birthday in Miami in January.

Windham-Burke has not discussed much of her relationship with her dad on the show; however, her mom, Dr. Deb, has made appearances.
