Jane Scher settles Pottery Barn lawsuit over December fall

A Manhattan socialite who fell through a trap door at an Upper East Side Pottery Barn store last year has settled her suit with the home-decor chain.

We reported in December that Jane Scher — the mother of Libbie Mugrabi — claimed she was “lucky to be alive” after an ill-fated Black Friday shopping trip.

Scher alleged in court documents that at a Pottery Barn Teen store, she fell “down an unprotected … hole in the floor that was not guarded, barricaded or warned against in any manner.” The New York State Supreme Court suit claimed she “sustained serious and severe personal injuries” as a result of the fall that also damaged her “beautiful J. Mendel mink coat,” plus pricey bracelets from Van Cleef & Arpels. She was also carrying a Birkin bag when she took the tumble.

Court documents filed last week reveal that the parties settled the suit for an undisclosed sum, and the case was dropped.

A rep for Pottery Barn had no comment. A friend of Scher — who is a cosmetic nurse at SkinTight MedSpa — told us: “She’s very happy with the settlement and glad to put the accident behind her.”
