Al Roker photographed walking to hospital after cancer reveal

After revealing on air Friday that he has prostate cancer, Al Roker was photographed taking a long walk from the “Today” show studios in Midtown Manhattan to the Upper East Side’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he is seeking treatment.

The beloved weather forecaster is set to undergo surgery at the hospital to remove his prostate.

The 66-year-old left work in the suit he wore on air, plus a fedora and a bright orange satchel. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the NBC co-host also wore a blue, disposable face mask.

After the trek to the hospital, Roker was spotted going past the front desk and directly into the cancer center.

On Friday’s show, Roker told fans about his diagnosis.

“After a routine check-up in September, turns out I have prostate cancer,” he said. “And it’s a good news-bad news kind of thing. The good news is we caught it early. Not great news is that it’s a little aggressive, so I’m going to be taking some time off to take care of this.”

Roker said he is optimistic about his outcome and expects to return to NBC in about two weeks following his surgery.
