Lil Wayne could face prison time over gun charge

Lil Wayne could be facing up to a decade of prison time.

The rapper, 38, was charged with one count of possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, TMZ reported on Tuesday. He was previously convicted of a felony gun charge in 2009 and served a year behind bars for the crime.

Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., could spend up to 10 years behind bars if convicted on the new charge, which stems from a December 2019 incident where federal agents searched his plane.

Officials allegedly found a gold-plated .45 caliber handgun, along with ecstasy, heroin and marijuana, inside a handbag on the plane.

He is due in court next month.
