Author Marisa Acocella says the ‘Big She-Bang’ will not be silenced

What if women ruled the world? Well, throughout many eras they did, but men cut them out of history.

In Marisa Acocella’s epic new graphic novel, “The Big She-Bang: The Herstory of the Universe According to God The Mother,” she illustrates all the goddesses that made our universe, based on ancient texts, set from the beginning of time to the present day.

Acocella, a cartoonist for The New Yorker and a best-selling author, says the past has been recorded in big books “written by a bunch of men about a bunch of men,” and it is time to set the story straight in her book, out on Harper Wave today.

Appearing on Geraldo and Erica Rivera’s “Geraldo In Cleveland” show on Monday, Acocella was ready to discuss “the divine feminine” but then she was hit with radio silence.

Acocella said, “[They] had a power outage, as if our She-Bang was too much to handle. The divine feminine energy was so strong it blew the circuits and the patriarchal technology couldn’t handle it. ‘The Shevolution’ will not be squelched.”

Acocella will do a special virtual event with Word Bookstore Jersey City on Nov. 18.
