It’s a battle of the TV Christmas trees!
Amid all the chaos surrounding the Rockefeller Center tree, which had to be given extensions and came equipped with a wild owl, Fox News is crowing about its own tree.
The mega tree, just one block away from 30 Rock, and decked out in red, white and blue outside Fox HQ in Midtown, is so snazzy that Page Six has discovered NBC even used it in the opening sequence of its tree lighting special on Wednesday.
Asked why the rival tree featured in NBC’s coverage, we’re told producers used “festive shots from around town.”
During the Rock Center lighting, people were upset to find out there were strict COVID measures put in place — leaving the city a “ghost town.”
On Sunday, FOX & Friends co-hosts Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade will feature a countdown to the 2nd annual “all-American tree lighting.”
This year will be done a little differently with signs encouraging social distancing, plus nutcrackers wearing masks to encourage any foot traffic to do the same.
The tree is 32-feet tall, has 47,000 lights and nearly 3,000 ornaments. It took 18 people 70 hours to put it together. Doocy said: “Our All American Christmas tree is red white and blue-tiful (naturally) and no one can top our socially distanced toy soldiers with masks.”
Meanwhile, “Today” star Savannah Guthrie joked about the NBC tree by posting online, “See? Girlfriend just needed better lighting and a few extensions.”
