NBC’s ‘Mr. Mayor’ halts production due to COVID-19 cluster

So much for Hizzoner.

Production on Ted Danson and Holly Hunter’s upcoming NBC series “Mr. Mayor” has been halted due to a cluster of COVID-19 cases on set.

Variety reports six positive cases connected to the show were recorded by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, with four turning up between Friday and Monday as a result of regular testing, according to a source. As a result of the positive tests, retests and contract tracing were done.

The COVID-induced pause in production will lead into the show’s previously scheduled holiday break, with production resuming in 2021.

Those who tested positive reportedly fall under “Zone A,” which includes the cast and crew members who have come into contact with them.

Produced by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock, “Mr. Mayor” centers on a wealthy businessman (Danson) who runs for mayor of Los Angeles while learning to connect with his teenage daughter.

NBC didn’t immediately return our request for comment.
