Wendy Williams responds to brother’s claim she skipped mom’s funeral

Wendy Williams announced the passing of her mother back in December, taking time off from her daytime talk show to grieve with family. Now, the media maven’s brother Tommy Williams is claiming she actually skipped the funeral to have lunch with her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter — an accusation the host says is not true.

Williams responded during Monday’s “Hot Topics” segment on her show, claiming her brother is “pegging me to be a person that I’m not,” while going on to threaten, “You don’t want me to start pegging you to be the person that you are, with full-blown receipts. I could fill the audience with receipts.”

Williams proceeded to drop those receipts during Tuesday’s “Hot Topics” segment, telling fans that she actually did attend the “service” — and witnessed her brother start a fight with a family member.

“You started a fight over an open casket, right there over my mother. Thank God we were at a civilized funeral home,” she claimed. “And the men of the funeral home blocked so that Mommy wouldn’t fall out and there’d be a catastrophe. You should know better at 53.”

Tommy responded through The Shade Room comment section, claiming that Williams, her ex-husband and son “attended the wake, NOT the funeral.”

He added, “I LOVE my sister, but WHY did you miss our mom’s funeral?”

Tommy started the beef by saying in a video blog Saturday, “I don’t understand how a person can miss out on giving a salute to the one person who is always there, who always showed support.”

He later said that Williams’ alleged absence disappointed their father.
