David Burtka undergoes spinal surgery

Neil Patrick Harris’ husband David Burtka is recovering from an intensive spinal surgery.

“Monday I had a 9 + hour surgery on my spine. 3 spinal fusions!!” Burtka, 45, captioned an Instagram photo of himself in a hospital bed wearing a neckbrace on Thursday.

Fortunately, the “Life is a Party” cookbook author says he’s recovering nicely post-op.

“I am all good and already recovering. Oxy, Tylenol and muscle relaxers are helping immensely,” he said.

His actor hubby also posted about the procedure, saying that it took more than seven hours and was “fairly intensive.”

“It’s one of the scarier, more hopeless feelings – hoping for the best, trying not to fear the worst, waiting [for] a call with news,” NPH, 47, wrote on his Instagram on Thursday. “Thankfully, all went according to plan. Whew..! Two thumbs up. I love you, @dbelicious. Your strength inspires me.”

He also thanked the healthcare workers at New York-Presbyterian Hospital for making sure the operation went smoothly.

The couple, who married in 2014, urged fans to watch a hilarious video of Burtka “going in and out of a morphine high.”

The “How I Met Your Mother” alum and Burtka share 10-year-old twins Harper and Gideon.

Burtka’s rep did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
