There’s nothing “complicated” about Avril Lavigne and her boyfriend Mod Sun’s budding new romance.
The couple cemented their relationship status with some PDA on a playful beach date in Santa Monica, Calif., on Wednesday to mark the occasion of Mod Sun’s 34th birthday.
The pair opted for casual attire, with Lavigne, 36, wearing an oversize black sweatshirt with matching red plaid pants and sunglasses.
Meanwhile, Mod Sun — whose real name is Derek Smith — wore a backwards trucker hat, his own drastically oversize sweater and combat boots.
The couple was all smiles as they took selfies to commemorate the occasion, with Lavigne leaping into Sun’s arms at one point.
Having notched their second public outing as a couple, the rockers reportedly followed their heavily booted beach frolic with dinner.
Lavigne and Mod Sun’s public debut as an item was last Friday, when they went on a double date with pals Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox to BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood.
Mod Sun first sparked rumors that he was dating Lavigne back in February, when he was seen sporting a new neck tat featuring the “My Happy Ending” singer’s name.
They had reportedly been working together on new music, and Lavigne featured on Sun’s recent single, “Flames,” about pining for one’s ex.
Mod Sun previously dated Bella Thorne and Tana Mongeau. Lavigne was married to Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley in 2006, dated Brody Jenner from 2010 to 2012 and then married Nickelback singer Chad Kroeger in 2013, which ended in divorce.
