Mega-wealthy reality star Kylie Jenner came under fire for encouraging fans to help fund a makeup artist’s medical bills — and then lent her sister Kendall Jenner her $72 million private jet for a quick trip to New York.
Jenner sparked outrage on Twitter over the weekend after exhorting fans to contribute to an online fundraiser for celebrity makeup artist Samuel Rauda.
Meanwhile, her supermodel sister Kendall took Kylie’s private jet from California to New York this weekend, at an estimated cost of $50,000. As Page Six exclusively reported last year, Kylie purchased the Global Express jet during a monster spending spree.
A source said, “Kendall arrived on Kylie’s private jet on Saturday, then the plane went back to LA on Sunday evening. Kendall stayed on in New York.
“Maybe she could have stayed home and instead donated that money to Kylie’s makeup artist.”
Kylie, 23, posted about Rauda — who “underwent major surgery” on March 14 — on social media in an effort to raise “awareness” and help pay for his medical expenses, since Rauda is a close friend of her current makeup artist Ariel Tejada.
The request didn’t sit so well with fans, who noted Jenner could have potentially funded the costs entirely with her estimated net worth of just under $900 million.
“Why is kylie jenner asking for donations to fund her makeup artist’s surgery when she’s a billionaire,” one user tweeted.
“If I was as rich as Kylie Jenner I simply wouldn’t ask ppl on the internet to donate for my best friend’s brain surgery but we all built different i guess!” another posted.
“How come Kylie Jenner isn’t paying her makeup artist enough to afford a 60k surgery? That’s the real question. Her business is makeup. He’s her makeup artist! He’s not bringing in millions?!?” one wrote.
As of Monday, over $99,000 had been raised with a goal of $120,000. Others defended Kylie, pointing out that the GoFundMe had been created by another friend of Rauda, and the reality star both donated her own money and raised awareness on social media.
A source told Page Six that Jenner did not become aware of Rauda’s request for financial help on GoFundMe until $6,000 of the original $10,000 goal had been raised, and she then donated $5,000 of her own money.
In 2019, Forbes named Jenner the world’s “youngest self-made” billionaire at the age of 21.
Last spring, however, the publication yanked the title, noting at the time: “Kylie’s business is significantly smaller, and less profitable, than the family has spent years leading the cosmetics industry and media outlets, including Forbes, to believe.”
But she still shelled out on the pink, custom-built private jet, measuring nearly 60 feet long, in June 2020.
A rep for Kylie Jenner did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.
