Armie Hammer is dating a local dental hygienist amid his personal semi-exile on Grand Cayman, Page Six can confirm.
“They were recently on a ‘staycation’ out East, the other side of the island from where they live,” People Magazine, who first reported the development, quoted a source as saying.
“They seem happy and comfortable with each other,” the source added. “They seem to have lots of friends and she introduces him to any friends who haven’t met him before when they are out.”
The budding romance must be a bright spot for Hammer, 34, whose career has spiraled ever downward following a series of allegations of sexual misconduct from exes, including an accusation of cannibalistic fantasies.
Mid-March, an accusation of rape from a woman named Effie went public, with the LAPD confirming Hammer was under investigation over the incident shortly thereafter.
The “Call Me By Your Name” actor has spent much of the coronavirus pandemic decamped on Grand Cayman, along with estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers — who filed for divorce from Hammer in July — and their two children.
In May, Hammer was spotted in public for the first time since the Effie accusation, having lunch with a group of friends at Macabuca on Grand Cayman. Despite losing more and more gigs following the controversy — a Disney+ series here, a Broadway play there — the actor has continued to appear publicly unbothered by the swift reversal of his fortunes, having sunny lunches left and right, including one in March with a mystery blonde.
An insider described Hammer as “co-dependent,” to Page Six when asked about the March lunch date, saying they weren’t surprised he was with someone. “He can’t be alone,” they added.
