Latest Virgil Abloh fashion collection to be shown as planned in Miami

Late designer Virgil Abloh’s Spring-Summer 2022 Collection will go on as planned in Miami on Tuesday.

The announcement was made by Louis Vuitton and Abloh’s family on Monday.

The luxury brand said in a statement on Instagram of the collection, called “Virgil Was Here,” “in loving memory of Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton pays tribute to the life and legacy of a creative genius with a presentation of his Spring-Summer 2022 Collection in Miami on November 30th at 5:30 pm.”

The announcement was made with a two-minute-long video that has garnered over 50,000 views.

It was announced on Sunday by the fashion house that Abloh died after a two-year, private battle with cardiac angiosarcoma. He was 41.

Company CEO Bernard Arnault said via a statement on Twitter, “We are all shocked after this terrible news. “Virgil was not only a genius designer, a visionary, he was also a man with a beautiful soul and great wisdom. The LVMH family joins me in this moment of great sorrow, and we are all thinking of his loved ones after the passing of their husband, their father, their brother, or their friend.”

The fashion designer founded hip label Off-White and went on to serve as artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear beginning in 2018.

His clientele included Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Kid Cudi and Hailey Bieber. Celebrities and VIPs are expected at the show.

West dedicated his latest Sunday Service to Abloh. The rapper’s choir reportedly sang an emotional version of Adele’s newest single, “Easy on Me,” but added new lyrics including, “I know your love flows like a river, and I could wash myself in it forever,” and, “I know there is hope in these waters, but I can’t bring myself to swim when I am drowning in my sin.”
