Meryl Streep’s nephew lands sweet plea deal in road-rage case: victim’s lawyer

Meryl Streep’s nephew is set to cop a sweetheart no-jail plea deal Wednesday over a Hamptons road-rage incident that left another man with a serious head injury, the victim’s lawyer says.

Charles Harrison Streep — the 32-year-old nephew of the famous Oscar-winning actress — is expected to walk off with just a $100 fine after pleading guilty to one count of unlawfully blocking or obstructing a parking lot during the violent East Hampton altercation with David Peralta-Mera, 19, on Aug. 24, said lawyer Edmond Chakmakian.

“Although the criminal case is over for [Streep], the damage to my life goes on and will go on for the rest of my life,” Peralta-Mera told The Post in a statement criticizing the deal Tuesday.

Streep was originally charged with felony crimes of strangulation and assault, but those raps were later downgraded to misdemeanor offenses. He would have faced up to a year behind bars if found guilty of the misdemeanors.

Peralta-Mera told The Post that he hopes to at least get more justice through his pending lawsuit against Streep.

“I assume that Mr. Streep did not intend to do the damage he did to me, or to upend both our lives, like he did,” Peralta-Mera said in his statement.

But “now that the criminal case is over, I fully trust in the civil system and am confident that I will receive justice in that court.”

Chakmakian added of his client, “He’s got cognitive disturbances, memory issues, he’s got mood issues [such as] irritability and depression.

“And he’s struggling to resume his studies, ironically as a criminal-justice major,” the lawyer said. “He’s also left with $125,000 in hospital debt hanging over his head.”

Peralta-Mera claims in his lawsuit that Streep slammed his head on the ground while hurling racial slurs, leaving the victim with severe injuries that required emergency brain surgery.

The civil case was put on hold pending the conclusion of the criminal case.
