Chelsea Handler cancels comedy shows due to hospital scare

Chelsea Handler is taking it easy after suffering a hospital scare Friday, forcing her to cancel two nights of her “Vaccinated and Horny” tour.

“I am so sorry I had to cancel my shows tonight in Portland and my show in Eugene,” Handler, 46, said from her hospital bed in video shared to her Instagram Stories. “I had a scare at the hospital, and I don’t have COVID, and I’m okay, but I had to reschedule my shows.”

“So, I just wanted to say that, and I will see you all when I see you, and I’m sorry that I had to cancel,” she continued. “But I’m all OK. And I’m not pregnant.”

The former late-night host also shared a formal statement announcing the cancellation of her Friday and Saturday night gigs to her account.

“Chelsea is deeply saddened to have to cancel tonight’s and tomorrow’s Portland and Eugene shows and looks forward to giving you a spectacular show in the near future,” read the statement’s caption.

“Being with people out for the first time after Covid, like being the reason that people are coming together is so meaningful and so fun. I mean, we are just having a blast. I’m having a blast on stage. It doesn’t feel like work,” Handler told CNN of being back on the road, post-lockdown.

“I’m a storyteller. I tell stories. So, you know, my standup is my life.”
