Simon Cowell explains why he’s planning ‘all’ of his wedding to Lauren Silverman
Simon Cowell explained why he’s planning “all” of his wedding to fiancée Lauren Silverman in a new interview with The Sun.
“I am planning it all, otherwise I know what will happen — there will be 600 people and it’ll get out of control, like my 50th birthday party,” the former “American Idol” judge, 62, told the British newspaper.
“No one knows when it’s going to be,” he continued. “That’ll be a surprise, even for Lauren.”
Cowell — who shares son Eric, 8, with Silverman, 44 — went on to say that he is not interested in hiring a “ghastly wedding planner” and hopes to avoid “all the arguments that happen [about] who you do invite and who you don’t invite” as it all “just seems like too much hassle.”
Page Six confirmed in January that Cowell proposed to Silverman during a New Year’s getaway to Barbados, where the music industry veteran owns a home.
“It was super sweet,” the insider said of the beach proposal at the time, adding, “They’re good together.”
The two met in 2004 when Silverman was still married to real estate mogul Andrew Silverman, a good friend of Cowell’s.
After 10 years of marriage, the Silvermans finalized their divorce in 2013 — the same year Lauren and Cowell went public with their relationship.
Cowell later admitted to having an affair with Lauren while she was wed to Andrew, 45.
“[The affair] is not something I am proud of or wanted to happen in terms of hurting anyone,” he said in an interview years back. “It just happened … But then, of course, you have a baby, and you look at the baby and you kinda go, ‘This is what happened from it.’”
Prior to Lauren, Cowell dated entertainment journalist Terri Seymour and has been linked to stars like Carmen Electra and pop singer Dannii Minogue.
Lauren was married to Andrew from 2003 until 2013. They share 16-year-old son Adam.
