‘Euphoria’ star Sydney Sweeney to receive Breakthrough Award at ATX TV Festival

The ATX TV Festival announced “Euphoria” star Sydney Sweeney will receive its second annual Breakthrough Award at this year’s festival.

The 24-year-old “White Lotus” actress will be on-hand to accept the award in Austin, Texas, in June and will be interviewed about her performances on the hit HBO shows.

“This award is truly for someone having a breakthrough moment in their career. Making noise and getting noticed in ways that they haven’t before,” ATX TV fest’s co-founder Caitlin McFarland exclusively told Page Six in a statement Friday. “We couldn’t think of anyone who has dominated our conversations more in the last year than Sydney Sweeney.”

She added, “To top it off, for us, as an event, returning to in person after three years, and hosting someone who starred in last year’s Closing Night series (‘White Lotus’) and our last in-person Opening Night (‘Euphoria’), this felt poetic.”

The award was previously given to “Pose” star Angelica Ross, who said during her virtual acceptance last year, “I am someone who is just breaking through, I’m just beginning … even though I’m 40 years old, you are seeing me just break the surface.”

This is the first time ATX TV Festival — which takes place June 2 to 5 — will be back in person since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Programming that had been postponed over the last two years — including a “Scrubs” reunion with creator Bill Lawrence and cast members Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes and Neil Flynn — are finally happening. “Parenthood” and “Justified” reunions are also set for this year.

Lifetime’s “Flowers in the Attic: The Origin” is set to premiere as well as Season 2 of Peacock’s “Rutherford Falls.” The festival also announced it will screen and host a panel for Vanessa Bayer’s new Showtime series “I Love That for You.”
