Nile Rodgers: Madonna was upset I didn’t name her as dream skating partner

Nile Rodgers is bringing his roller disco to New York – and admits he once offended Madonna by not naming her as his ultimate skating partner.

The legendary Chic guitarist, 69, unveiled his musical and theatrical DiscOasis in Central Park’s Wollman Rink on Tuesday.

When asked who would be his dream skating partner, Rodgers told Page Six, “I like too many people so I can’t say one name.”

“I made that mistake once before with Madonna many years ago. Madonna was mad I did not pick her one time,” he said of the 63-year-old “Material Girl” singer.

“I work with too many artists who are fashionable and cool for so many different reasons. So, it is just not fair to name one.”

After a successful run in Los Angeles, Rodgers’ roller skating event will now take place at the Wollman Rink from June 16 to October 1.

The Grammy-winning composer, producer and guitarist serves as the Groovemaster and music curator for the event, which is produced by Constellation Immersive in partnership with Live Nation. The disco also benefits Rodgers’ We Are Family Foundation.

Just last month, R&B crooner Usher hosted the grand opening of Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace Rockefeller Center, while showing off some serious moves on skates. Angela Yee of the 105.1 Breakfast Club served as MC.

“I can’t battle Usher. Usher is too young, he would burn me,” Rodgers joked to Page Six, when asked about skating against the 43-year-old singer. “So he can hurt himself and still put on a great show. I can’t do that.”

Rodgers also told Page Six that he plans to celebrate his upcoming 70th birthday on Sept. 19 at the roller rink.

“I’m 69 years old. Skating for me feels like the most freeing type of exercise,” he said. “I’m not adding flavor to my workout. I’m not trying to be a bodybuilder. I just don’t wanna get fat.”
