Justin Bieber postpones two NYC shows following Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis

Justin Bieber is postponing two New York City concerts ā€“ slated for Monday and Tuesday ā€“ following his Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis.

“Due to Justinā€™s ongoing medical situation, this weekā€™s Justice Tour shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City will be postponed,” a post shared to the venueā€™s Instagram page on Sunday read.

ā€œJustin is receiving the best medical care possible and is determined to resume the tour as soon as he and the doctors feel he is able to continue. Details on the rescheduled MSG shows will be made public shortly.ā€

The 28-year-old singerā€™s wife, Hailey Bieber, shared the post to her Story and added several white heart emojis.

While the model, 25, has yet to speak publicly about Justinā€™s ongoing health battle, she also reposted his announcement on Friday.

ā€œI wanted to update you guys on whatā€™s been going on,ā€ Justin said in the video. ā€œObviously, as you can probably see from my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerve in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis.ā€

According to New Yorkā€™s Mount Sinai hospital, Ramsay Hunt syndrome first shows up as a rash around the ear, on the face or on the mouth. The varicella-zoster virus can then infect a nerve in the head, therefore causing paralysis.

ā€œAs you can see, this eye is not blinking,” Justin demonstrated at the time. “I canā€™t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move, so thereā€™s full paralysis on [right side] side of my face.

ā€œSo for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, Iā€™m just physically obviously not capable of doing them,” he continued. “This is pretty serious as you can see. I wish this wasnā€™t the case, but obviously, my bodyā€™s telling me I gotta slow down.ā€

However, the Grammy winner told fans that he plans to rest as much as possible and is focused on getting back to “100 percent.”

ā€œIā€™m gonna get better and Iā€™m doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal and it will go back to normal,ā€ the “Baby” singer assured his followers.

ā€œItā€™s just time and we donā€™t know how much time itā€™s gonna be, but itā€™s gonna be OK. I have hope and I trust God and I trust that this is all for a reason.ā€

A friend close to the singer subsequently told Page Six that those close to the songwriter know he will get better soon.

“Bieber will be OK,ā€ the insider said. ā€œHe will recover.ā€

Back in March, Hailey experienced a health scare of her own when she was hospitalized after a blood clot reached her brain and she suffered “stroke-like symptoms.”

She said she was ā€œrecovering really wellā€ after having heart surgery in an April YouTube video.

Hailey and Justin tied the knot in September 2018 after getting engaged in July of that year, just one month after rekindling their on-again, off-again romance.
