Kim Kardashian thinks you need a pair of swim gloves
“Glove” it or hate it, Kim Kardashian’s still trying her darnedest to make swimmable hand coverings a thing.
The reality star’s latest Skims swimwear drop includes elbow-length Swim Gloves ($48) in seven different colors to match the new suits on offer — and they’re selling out surprisingly fast.
The Skims site promises the “trendsetting” opera-style accessories will “instantly elevate your swim look” and “make a sexy splash everywhere you go.”
Sizes range from XXS to 4X, and the mitts are made in nude, black, brown, white and even hot pink varieties, the latter of which TikTok star Bella Poarch models in the brand’s new campaign.
Kardashian, 41, has been pushing the look since January, when she styled black gloves with a matching swim top and bottom during a tropical vacation. The following month, she teamed a leather bikini with Chanel gloves for a plunge in the pool.
In May, she even covered the 2022 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue in a flesh-toned pair that perfectly matched her stringy Skims two-piece.
But some on social media aren’t sold on the 10-fingered trend.
“Kim K is officially selling ‘swim gloves’ for almost $50 that are mostly already sold out, and I know some of y’all are about to have the gnarliest tan lines…,” one person tweeted; another shared a similar sentiment about wearing the style in the sun, suggesting, “instead of calling it a redneck tan or a farmer’s tan, call it a #Kardashian tan.”
Wrote a third, “Kim needs to stop trying to make ‘swim gloves’ a thing. IT’S NOT A THING it’s weird.”
If nothing else, there’s now a way to build sandcastles at the beach without dirtying your paws.
