Amid a publicity spree for her upcoming album “Midnights,” Taylor Swift dove into how her relationship with longtime beau Joe Alwyn inspired the track “Lavender Haze.”

The Grammy winner, 32, shared in a video on Instagram on Friday that she first heard the term while watching “Mad Men.”

“It turns out that it was a common phrase that was used in the ’50s, where they would just describe being in love,” Swift explained, adding that a “Lavender Haze” meant you were in “that all-encompassing love glow” and she found it to be “really beautiful.”

“I guess, theoretically, when you’re in the ‘Lavender Haze,’ you’ll do anything to stay there and not let people bring you down off of that cloud,” the “Wildest Dreams” singer also noted, prefacing why the phrase reminded her of Alwyn, 31.

Swift then referred to her “relationship of six years” — without naming her partner — and said the duo have “had to dodge weird rumors, tabloid stuff” and they “just ignore it.”

“And so this song is sort of about the act of ignoring that stuff to protect the real stuff,” she added. “I hope you guys like it.”

Swift and Alwyn began dating in 2016 following the “Blank Space” singer’s breakup with musician Calvin Harris.

Unlike with many of the pop star’s past romances — which have included well-documented flings with Joe Jonas, John Mayer, Harry Styles and Tom Hiddleston — the “All Too Well” singer and “The Favourite” star have tried their best to keep their relationship private.

Recently, rumors that the pair have gotten engaged began circling in late Spring, but the couple has not yet made an announcement.

In April, Alwyn spoke out about the “increasingly intrusive” culture that led him and Swift to keep their relationship out of the spotlight.

“It’s not really [because I] want to be guarded and private, it’s more a response to something else,” he told Elle magazine at the time.

“We live in a culture that is so increasingly intrusive … The more you give – and frankly, even if you don’t give it – something will be taken.”
