Kim Kardashian fit into Marilyn Monroe’s dress because she’s a ‘shapeshifter’

Kim Kardashian may have dressed up as mutant shapeshifter Mystique for Halloween this year, but she apparently has morphing abilities of her own.

In Thursday’s new episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” the Skims mogul took fans behind the scenes of her prep for the Met Gala 2022 red carpet, where she made headlines by showing up in Marilyn Monroe’s iconic “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” dress.

Examining a replica of the gown, Kardashian confessed her fear of not being able to squeeze into the historic garment, which was memorably worn by the late Hollywood blonde in 1962.

“If this does not fit me, like, I can’t even try the original,” she told her stylist, Danielle Levi.

While Kardashian’s measurements don’t match Monroe’s, she added, “The width of my shoulders and my body makes me a shapeshifter. I can squeeze into anything.”

Continued Kardashian, 42, “I can squeeze into anything, but no one trusted us for years. [Designers] would never send samples, and then once I would get to Paris and try on the samples, they would be like, ‘Oh wait, she actually fits into our stuff.’ I don’t know how to convince the guy who owns the original Marilyn dress that I am a shapeshifter.”

She almost couldn’t shift herself to fit into the museum piece, however; later in the episode, we learn that Ripley’s Believe It or Not! briefly pulled out of loaning Kardashian the look when the original wouldn’t go over her hips.

“I was just devastated,” she told sisters Kourtney and Khloé over lunch, adding that she would only attend the gala if the museum team changed their minds.

“If they don’t let me wear the dress, then no, [I’m not going],” Kardashian said. “I wrote them like a groveling, begging email, but they were very firm.”

They must have changed their minds, as the Skkn by Kim founder went on to wear Monroe’s original dress up the Met steps before changing into a replica for the remainder of the evening.

In a move that sparked backlash from fans and fellow celebrities alike, Kardashian lost 16 pounds in just a few weeks to make the piece fit.

How’s that for shapeshifting?
