JoJo Siwa slams ‘rude’ Candace Cameron Bure for ‘hurtful’ marriage comments

The feud is back on.

JoJo Siwa called out Candace Cameron Bure for being “rude and hurtful” to the LGBTQIA+ community after the actress advocated for keeping “traditional marriage” on screen.

“honestly, I can’t believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press,” Siwa, 19, wrote in an Instagram post, which was accompanied with a screenshot of Cameron Bure’s remarks.

“This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people.”

Siwa’s comments come after Cameron Bure, 46, left the Hallmark channel in April and joined the Great American Family network to work on projects that “will keep traditional marriage at the core.”

“This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people,” Siwa said about the actress’s decision to only portray “traditional” married couples. Instagram

“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them. I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment,” she told Wall Street Journal interview about her career move.

She also told the outlet that Hallmark “basically is a completely different network than when I started because of the change of leadership.”

GFA declined to comment for the WSJ article but a spokeswoman for Hallmark said, “We want all viewers to see themselves in our programming and everyone is welcome.”

Earlier this year, Hallmark announced it had plans to show a more diverse lineup, including movies with LGBTQIA+ leads.

Hilarie Burton was the first A-lister to call out the infamously religious Cameron Bure for her remarks and slammed her as a “bigot.”

“I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank,” the “One Tree Hill” alum tweeted on Monday.

Siwa — who came out as gay in January 2021 and has been dating girlfriend Avery Cyrus for two months — reignited her feud with the actress, whom she had previously dubbed the “rudest celebrity” she has ever met in a July TikTok video.

“It was at this afterparty that she didn’t wanna take a picture with me,” Siwa later explained.

“But then I turned around, and when I looked back, she was taking pictures with other kids.”

The “Full House” actress later took to her own social media to tell her followers that she apologized for “breaking” Siwa’s “heart.” And despite agreeing that the two had a pleasant conversation, Siwa noted that Cameron Bure didn’t divulge all of the “details” from their phone call.

Cameron Bure has yet to respond to either Siwa or Burton’s opinions.
