Aubrey Plaza shakes off viral onstage anger while goofing off at SAG Awards
Aubrey Plaza went from grumpy to goofy at the 2023 SAG Awards.
The “White Lotus” star, who appeared annoyed while onstage with her castmates at Sunday’s award show, was later seen pulling funny faces backstage.
The 38-year-old actress looked relaxed while making hand gestures and wacky expressions in the background of one of Jenna Ortega’s photos.
She and the “Wednesday” star, 20, presented an award onstage together earlier in the evening, poking fun at their resemblance.
In more silly snaps backstage, Plaza could be seen blowing a kiss to Cara Delevingne before cozying up to the 30-year-old supermodel.
The “Parks and Recreation” alum also photobombed a sweet shot of her former co-stars Amy Poehler and Adam Scott.
Additionally, Plaza was photographed dancing with F. Murray Abraham.
The actor, 83, was giving an acceptance speech on behalf of the “White Lotus” cast for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series when Plaza made headlines for her onstage antics.
As Abraham spoke, Plaza struggled to see the crowd before sidling her way toward the front of the group. Actor Jon Gries subsequently grabbed Plaza’s arm and whispered in her ear.
Gries seemingly told the “Emily the Criminal” star about a possible wardrobe malfunction pertaining to her cutout gown, as Plaza made a panicked face and promptly fixed her Michael Kors dress.
She was subsequently spotted muttering to herself as Meghann Fahy, Theo James, Will Sharpe and more stars congratulated each other. Meanwhile, she appeared to mouth, “Jesus Christ.”
It remains unclear whether her bizarre reaction was related to Abraham’s speech, Grier’s comment or something else entirely.
Puzzled viewers were quick to pick up on the actress’ strange mood, with many taking to social media to speculate.
“What was she annoyed about?” one person asked, with another pointing out her “mad” expression.
A third person chimed in, “Did anyone notice Aubrey Plaza? She seemed REALLY pissed off. There was something real odd about her on stage with the White Lotus team. She even exited the stage quick and alone rather than staying with the cast.”
More social media users, however, claimed that Plaza is “always f–king around” and simply acts “like that.”
A rep for Plaza did not return Page Six’s request for comment.
Along with the “White Lotus” cast’s big win, Jennifer Coolidge took home the award for Best Female Actor in a Drama Series for her work in the Mike White-directed show.
