Rebel Wilson rewears old Oscars dress after weight loss: ‘Sustainable queen’

It pays to keep special pieces around.

Rebel Wilson dug into her fashion archives for the 2023 Oscars red carpet, choosing the gown she wore to the same awards show in 2020 for the Vanity Fair Oscars party on Sunday night.

“Oscars 2023. Sustainably re-wearing my @jasonwu dress from the Oscars a few years ago,” Wilson wrote in an Instagram post on Monday along with a video of the actress all dolled up for Hollywood’s biggest night.

The “Senior Year” star, 43, was seen wearing the custom shimmering off-the-shoulder gown as she held hands with 37-year-old fiancée, Ramona Agruma, who wore a sheer draped look.

Wilson accessorized with Simon G. Jewelry and a rainbow clutch purse by Kurt Geiger, perhaps as a nod to the LGBT flag after launching “label-free” queer dating app Fluid.

Fans of the “Pitch Perfect” alum applauded Wilson for repeating the stunning look years later.

“Yessssss to re-wearing! And looking incredible 😍😍😍😍,” one fan commented on her post.

“I love that dress, it would be a shame if you only wore it once! ❤️,” a second person wrote.

“Looked gorgeous on you then and now,” added a third.

“Beautiful, wish more people would re-wear outfits, gowns, etc! Makes perfect sense. Spare child labor and be better for the environment,” one more said.

Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, also celebrated Wilson’s sustainable efforts with a gushing post on Instagram.

“There’s another Aussie Sustainable Queen! @rebelwilson re-wearing this incredible custom @jasonwu gown made for the 2020 Oscars,” Stewart wrote in a post on Monday.

Wilson originally wore the glittery garment to the 92nd Academy Awards where she took to the stage as a presenter.

“I never thought I could wear a dress like this and pull it off,” she told “Access Hollywood” on the red carpet that year, adding that she had to have her bra sewn into the gown.

Around that time, the Australian native began her “year of health” and ultimately lost more than 70 pounds by November 2020. She previously shared that she wanted to lose weight to help her fertility chances.

“It first started when I was looking into fertility stuff and the doctor was like, ‘Well, you’d have a much better chance if you were healthier,’” Wilson shared in July 2021.

She added, “That’s kind of what started it, that if I lost some excess weight that it would give me a better chance for freezing eggs and having the eggs be a better quality. It wasn’t even really myself, it was more thinking of a future mini-me, really.”

However, she ultimately welcomed her first child, daughter Royce Lillian, via surrogate in November 2022.

It’s unclear what kind of alterations went into the dress for re-wearing purposes and Wilson’s rep did not immediately return Page Six Style’s request for comment.
