Shakira pleads for privacy for her and Gerard Piqué’s sons following Miami move

Shakira has issued a passionate plea for privacy after packing up and leaving Spain for the US.

The singer last week flew 4,684 miles from Barcelona to Miami with her sons Milan, 10, and Sasha, eight, following her dramatic split from ex Gerard Piqué.

In a desperate bid to start afresh, the singer has now asked fans to respect her sons’ privacy as they settle into their new lives in the Sunshine State.

“Dear friends, journalists and media,” she wrote in her lengthy caption, according to Instagram’s translation.

“As they begin a new phase in their lives, I urge the media on behalf of my children to please respect their right to privacy.”

“I trust that journalists and photographers are sensitive to the situation facing Milan and Sasha and can behave in the most humane way possible with them, given that this is the health and physical and emotional integrity of two under 8 and 10 years of just wishing they could go out on the street, and attend school feeling safe and having the peace of mind not being chased or subjected to constant surveillance of cameras,” the “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker continued.

“I extend this petition no longer as an artist, but as a mother who wants to protect and care for the psychological and emotional well-being of her children so that they can live a healthy and happy life, as every child deserves,” the doting mom added.

Shakira announced in June 2022 that she was separating from her soccer star ex after nearly 11 years together.

Page Six reported in January that Piqué allegedly had an affair with his now-girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti.

The 46-year-old seemingly discovered the athlete’s cheating when she realized her jam supply was dwindling, according to reports.

She later hinted at the bizarre ordeal in her “Te Felicito” music video.

In March, Shakira addressed the breakup during an interview on “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” explaining that she had a “rough” year and put up with “so much crap.”

“I really felt that I don’t even have fans out there,” she said. “I have a sisterhood of women who have been through the same things that I have been through, who think the way I think, who feel the way I feel, who had to put up with so much crap the way I had to.”

Despite her heartbreak, Gerard is not apologizing for his actions. He shared last month that he is “very happy” and staying “faithful” to himself.

“I’m not going to spend money cleaning up my image,” the 36-year-old said. “There have been changes in my life and I have known how to preserve happiness.”
