Why King Charles III stopped taking Prince Harry’s money-grubbing calls: author
King Charles III cut off communication with Prince Harry after the royal allegedly kept asking his father for money, a royal author claims.
“Charles stopped taking the calls, however, after his son had sworn at him and repeatedly asked for funds in their tense calls,” Robert Jobson writes in “Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed.”
“When the Queen asked him why, Charles told her that he was not a bank.”
Despite the fallout with his father, Jobson claims Harry tried to stay in touch with the now-late Queen Elizabeth II and “was regularly trying to contact his grandmother” when he moved to California.
“The Queen hoped that her grandson, having decided to live in Canada and then California, would find peace and happiness living the life he had chosen, but in the end she asked him to speak directly to his father,” the British journalist writes.

A source told Jobson that Her Majesty found Harry’s calls quite “difficult and wearisome” and she “didn’t want to interfere” in his relationship with Charles.
After Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped away from being working royals in 2020, they were financially cut off and had to cover expenses for their own security.
Money is a topic that the Duke of Sussex, 38, discussed in his controversial memoir, “Spare.“
Harry claimed in the book that his father told him the royal family didn’t have “enough money” to support Markle, 41, and suggested that she continue working as an actress.
Charles, 74, explained he was “already having to pay” a lot to fund Harry, Prince William and Kate Middleton, according to the Archewell Foundation founder.
“Pa didn’t financially support Willy and me, and our families, out of any largesse,” Harry wrote. “That was his job. That was the whole deal.”
The duke then alleged that Charles wasn’t really interested in preserving his bank account but rather was jealous of Markle’s growing popularity.
“Pa might have dreaded the rising cost of maintaining us, but what he really couldn’t stomach was someone new dominating the monarchy, grabbing the limelight, someone shiny and new coming in and overshadowing him,” Harry wrote.
Despite the father-son estrangement, Jobson writes in his new book that Charles feels “torn between love and duty and [is] deeply saddened.”
Harry and Charles will again come face-to-face for a monumental event next month.
After weeks of feverish speculation, it was confirmed last week that the Duke of Sussex will attend his father’s coronation on May 6 — but Markle will not join him.
“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet,” a palace spokesperson previously told Page Six.
Harry’s rep did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment on Jobson’s claims.
