Katy Perry excited for ‘wild’ Windsor Castle stay for King Charles’ coronation

Katy Perry is getting the princess treatment when she performs at King Charles III’s coronation next month.

The singer told Extra Tuesday that she will be staying at Windsor Castle during her United Kingdom visit in May.

“I’m really excited,” the “American Idol” judge, 38, gushed. “I might be posting a lot because I’m gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild.”

Perry went on to tell the outlet about the “very regal” invitation she received from the 74-year-old monarch.

“It was like a cursive I have never seen [before],” the songwriter explained. “I loved it.”

She noted that it will be an “honor” to celebrate Charles’ crowning eight months after Queen Elizabeth II’s passing.

“I’m an ambassador to one of his foundations for the British Asian Trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking … and it just aligned with all my values [when] he asked me to sing,” she explained.

Perry issued a similar statement when news broke on April 14 that she will be one of the performers singing at the Sunday, May 7, coronation concert.

Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, British pop group Take That, Sir Bryn Terfel, Freya Ridings and Alexis Ffrench will also take the stage despite a number of other artists refusing to do so.

Rolling Stone reported in March that Adele, Elton John, Robbie Williams and the Spice Girls all turned down offers from the palace.

Notably, Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, will also be absent from the event.

Although Buckingham Palace confirmed earlier this month that the Duke of Sussex, 38, accepted his father’s invitation, his wife is staying behind in California with their two kids — son Archie, 3, and daughter Lilibet, 1.

“There was no way that Meghan was going to miss her son’s [4th] birthday,” a source told Page Six at the time, as the ceremony is the same day as Archie’s milestone.

The “Suits” alum and Harry have lived in Montecito since 2020, with Markle returning twice for Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022 and the queen’s funeral that September.

She and the former military pilot have a strained relationship with his family members.

Since the duo resigned from their royal duties in 2021, they have continuously bashed the monarchy in a Netflix docuseries, a bombshell memoir and multiple interviews.
